System Engineer 1 (Network Administration)

Love where you work! This contract is comprised of a large agency wide contract supporting Enterprise Systems Engineering and Architecture across some intelligence organizations. This amazing program contains a variety of primarily senior System Engineering type roles to include all the major mission areas across capabilities and operations. The engineers and program support personnel on this contract provide needed support across the full lifecycle of systems engineering. Projects include, but are not limited to requirements analysis, dataflow, architecture, IT Engineering, SIGINT, Cyber Network Operations, and security domains.

Job Description:
Candidate must be able to quickly ascertain a variety of network infrastructure issues in a blended (70% Windows & 30% UNIX) environment pertaining to service availability, latency, storage capacity, (mis)configurations, device hardware failures, and potential collateral damage associated with any hardware/software upgrades. Candidate must be able to act quickly and adapt/pivot during an outage, while possessing the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issued on multiple networks that lack internet resources. Candidate should be flexible when introducing additional, new, and/or unfamiliar technology to the environment, and collaborate/assist with vendor support (if provided/available).

REQUIRED Technical Skills 
Practical knowledge and experience in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of the following products is critical:
  • VMWare – vCenter ESXi 6.5 & 6.7 – storage arrays; Horizon Thin Client, vSphere, vROps
  • Linux – Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, 18.04, CentOS 7&8, Puppet, SNMP, Netflow analyzers/data (configuration and management), Ability to join Linus hosts to a Windows domain, Samba share installation
  • Cisco – Catalyst 3850 & Nexus 3000, NextGEN Firewall
  • Windows – Active Directory (LDAP), distributed switching knowledge
  • Compliance knowledge – NESSUS scans, user privileged access, role-based access, documentation.
The Candidate should be able to work independently, collaborating with a group of intelligence analysts, monitoring a closed network and managing your own stand-alone network.
